Year 7 Boys PE Update

Dear Parents

Next week all boys in Year 7 will start their first outdoor module in PE.

The boys will be completing a 5 week module in rugby, followed by a 5 week module in football.

All rugby at Heathside follows the RFU Age Grade Rugby continuum and all students prior to starting the rugby module will be taking part in training in line with the RFU ‘Headcase’ scheme.

Students are encouraged to watch the short video prior to their lesson next week which can be found at the link below.

Students will require a slightly different PE kit for rugby and football modules:

Rugby – Students will require studded boots, mouth guard, Heathside rugby shirt, Heathside PE shorts and Heathside PE socks. It is also advised for students to wear a base layer underneath their Heathside rugby shirts in the colder months.

Football – Students will require studded boots, shin pads, Heathside rugby shirt, Heathside PE shorts and Heathside PE socks. It is also advised for students to wear a base layer underneath their Heathside rugby shirts in the colder months.

Students should always bring trainers with them to lessons as well in case the weather is poor and PE takes place indoors.

When parents are buying studded boots it is advised that parents purchase football boots as these can be used for both football and rugby lessons. Rugby boots can often only be used for rugby lessons due to their different design.

Students will need the same kit if they are attending either rugby or football club as part of the extra curricular PE programme.

If you have any questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact me on the email address below.

Kind regards
